Our Story
Uchumi Quick Suppliers Ltd. was founded as a family-run enterprise in 1982. From humble beginnings, UQSL soon became a major player in the Printing and Graphic Arts industries in the region. Our founding MD, Ms. Palvi Chandaria, still sits at the helm of the company and oversees our core business as a supplier to the Offset Printing industry.
Our growth is driven by an understanding of developing market trends and needs within the East African region, and UQSL began exploring opportunities in new market segments. 2018 saw our entry into the Food Processing and Packaging sectors as a supplier of capital goods. A strong market response demonstrated to us that this will be a major driver of future growth for the company, with clients in sectors as diverse as Food & Beverage, FMCG, Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics, Chemicals etc. In line with this, we are allocating considerable time and resources towards the development of this side of the business.

Palvi started Uchumi Quick Suppliers in 1982, then as a trader supplying guillotine knives to the printing sector. Through the 1990s and early 2000s, she saw the company grow into one of the largest suppliers of offset printing machines and consumables in East Africa. Palvi has a wealth of experience in customer relations, negotiation and supply chain management.

Neel attended the University of Durham, graduating with a BA in Philosophy, Politics & Economics. He continued his education at BPP in London, gaining a post-graduate degree in Law in 2011. Upon returning to Kenya, he spent 2 years working in the legal field and subsequently joined Uchumi Quick Suppliers in 2012. Neel has overseen the introduction of Packaging & Food Processing lines at Uchumi Quick Suppliers, and continues to lead this shift in direction. He is passionate about new & emerging technologies, striving to stay at the forefront of trends & innovations in the industry.

A seasoned Sales Engineer with experience in Sales of Industrial equipment in the Food and Dairy industries. With an accredited Global professional course in Chartered Institute of Marketing, James has mastered the art of identifying customers’ needs and designing of solutions in line with those needs. A degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing provided him with the relevant experience in servicing of machines. Further, having previously worked as a service Engineer, James provides customers with the required after sales support and keeps you satisfied in the long run. He is passionate about delivering value for customers’ money for a win-win relationship.

Jared is an experienced and resourceful Sales and maintenance personnel of industrial and packaging machinery. With a Bachelors in Business Management and a Diploma in Computer Science, he has a deep understanding of Machinery and Services for the Packaging Industry. His 8 years as a service technician has given him practical skills in the industry and provided him with clear knowledge of customer requirements and solutions to their problems. He is passionate about building strong partnerships with customers and providing solutions to their problems.

He is passionate about technology, confident in his ability to engage with customers, and able to overcome any obstacles that come his way and stop him from achieving his objectives. He has all of those customer facing competencies and a superb communication skill that allow him to explain many different technologies and effectively communicate technical concepts in non-technical terms. A degree in Mechatronic Engineering provides him with required expertise to solve complex problems through the implementation of action plans, provide training to customers on the usage of Industrial machines and understand a client’s business model and then use this information to create a plan of action for the intended solution.
